“Why had the devil been allowed to walk among us unchallenged, poisoning hearts and minds until it was too late?” Immaculee Ilibagiza, “Left To Tell” (Hay House, 2006)

On this the 25th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda, one can see similarities to the way people were educated (deformed) in Rwanda, in the years leading up to the genocide, and the way many Americans are being deformed and filled with resentment today.

OurikaThe engraving, made by French/German printmaker Alfred Johannot (c.1830), around the time of Delecroix’s: Liberty Leading the People, depicts a black Catholic nun in Morocco dialoguing with a ‘liberty’ scholar. She seems to be skeptical of his notions (see her eyes and hands), perhaps having found true freedom and enlightenment in communion with her God.

Coincidentally, there is presently an exhibition at Columbia University on the role played by black women in Modern 19th-century French art: Posing Modernity: The Black Model From Manet and Matisse to Today, at the Wallach Art Gallery.

A day of hand-wringing in the US over Russian meddling in its 2016 election falls on the 100th anniversary of the murder of Russian Tsar Nicolas II  and his family by Bolsheviks, backed by American banker Jacob Schiff of Kuhn, Loeb & Co. This after the US had supported the Russian Revolution and Mr. Schiff had funded the Japanese in a war with Russia in 1905.

From the Russo-Japanese War up to and including Syria, American meddling has multiplied darkness and death. Whereas Russian meddling, in recent years, has sought to advance light and life.

TimesSquare04-18Would that the American people had confronted their government’s wicked intervention (and calls for regime change) in Syria, starting in 2011. That once beautiful country has been destroyed by American made weapons. The fact that the U.S. has been allied with Great Britain, in pulverizing Iraq and Syria, is not making America great again. Whatever claim the U.S. might have on greatness came when the U.S. was resisting Great Britain not supporting her.

How viable is a ‘beacon of democracy’ when the people lose control of their government, but more importantly of themselves?

roseflyHistory has shown the anti-Zionist Jews of 1917 (including Edwin Montagu and Lucien Wolf) were right to oppose the erection of the Modern State of Israel — one of the great crimes of all time — which can’t be countenanced by anything in the bible. Today Israeli leaders, who failed to follow the call of secular Zionists to be just with the Palestinians, are now invoking the Bible and supposed “ancient claims” to justify their wrongdoing. In fact the opposite is the case, the Jews were “vomited” from the land and sent wandering because of their unfaithfulness to the covenant. The new Israel, referred to in the bible, is firstly a spiritual reality built-up through baptism not fraud and force.

UnitedNations2017hUNHQReduced to being an empty backdrop for photo-ops, the United Nations — sans leaders from Myanmar, Russia and China — will begin another session this week, its founding principles and charter in shambles (along with Syria), having been destroyed in recent years by leaders from Riyadh, Tel Aviv, and Washington.

UNPrayerService2017UNPrayerService2017bThe annual UN prayer service, ahead of the opening of the 72nd Session of  the United Nations General Assembly, was held Monday at the Church of the Holy Family in NYC — presented by the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations. His Excellency Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, and His Excellency Mr. Miroslav Lajcak, President of the Seventy-Second Session of the General Assembly were in attendance and spoke, along with representatives from various religious denominations.

The United Nations has long sought to partner with faith communities as it works to “make the world a better place.” Problems arise when those seeking to make the world a better place, including faith communities, act in ways that generate the wrath of Heavenly Father rather than His mercy.

Real progress for humanity, including world peace, requires that man’s designs be in accord with God’s will.

Fire&FuryPresident Trump’s incendiary rhetoric and immature policies toward Korea (North and South) seem also intended to shore up his precarious position at home, by assuaging and gaining sympathy from his many opponents on the left and right. A similar miscalculation was made in 1914 by the weak and despised Tzar Nicholas II of Russia — leading him to go to war with Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in the hope of uniting his country — which didn’t end well for Russia, the Tzar, or the world.

A better approach would be for the U.S. to help North and South Korea reunite.

LiveAmmoWould that Mr. Trump reached across the table of the G-20 meeting, with every fiber of his being, and offered that the U.S. lead the world in disarmament, while at the same time advocating for the reunification of Korea, as concrete ways to grow the world’s prosperity and improve the environment.

JerusalemMapSixDaysFifty years after the Six Day War, the Modern State of Israel obsesses over its physical survival versus its moral survival as a democratic Jewish state. Politics are seen as the means by which Israelis think about the meaning of Jewish existence (rather than union with God). The result is a people who have “cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and have blasphemed the word of the Holy One of Israel.” Isaiah 5:24

The way for Jews (and humanity) to be fulfilled resides not in the Modern State of Israel but rather in the Holy One of Israel.

SpiritOfStLouisOn this day ninety years ago, US airmail pilot Charles Lindberg (‘Lucky Lindy’) — having taken off from Roosevelt Field on Long Island the day before — landed at Le Bourget Aerdrome, Paris, after a 33 hour flight.

Years later in his book, The Spirit of Saint Louis, Mr. Lindberg comments: “We have seen the aircraft, to which we devoted our lives, destroying the civilization that created them. We realize the very efficiency of our machines threatens the character of the men who build and operate them.”

President Trump’s commitment to sell Saudi Arabia $350 billion in weapons, on this anniversary weekend, might be seen as further proof of that.

Reflecting on the Modern State of Israel @ 69.

The editors of Chaim Weitzmann: Statesman of the Jewish Renaissance  (The Zionist Library, 1974), refer to the 19th century Jewish philosopher Ahad Ha’am who suggested that what “preserved the Jewish nation during the 2000 years of the Diaspora and enabled the Jewish people to retain a unity which transcends geographical, political and economic diversity was the unity of cultural heritage.” He noted that the Jewish sages realized the survival of the Jewish people, which could not be based on military power, on economic strength or political influence could be placed on a cultural foundation.” And for that they needed to fulfill a “spiritual mission.”

But having rebelled against the Spirit (old and new), except to claim the land, many Jews are pursuing redemption and freedom, change and newness, through materialism (including Marxism, feminism & Iron Dome) rejecting the way to be truly free, and new. The results have been calamitous for individuals, communities and the world.

UnitedNationsUnited Nations – April 28, 2017

One would hope that the current nuclear missile crisis is the beginning of the end, not for the world, but for the existence of nuclear weapons in the world.

Perhaps the only way to end the crisis, peacefully, is for the U.S. to take the lead in turning the entire world into a ‘nuclear weapons free zone.’ Reagan tried at Reykjavik but was thwarted by the establishment — the great destabilizers — whose true colors can be seen in efforts to hinder rather than encourage the reunification of North and South Korea.

UN-USUS ambassador Nikki Haley told the UN today that the US is “prepared to do more” in Syria. This after six years of American intervention in that country, supporting the rebels seeking to topple the Assad government and plunder the country. No one has done more to aid in the destruction of Syria (beginning with “Gay Girl in Damascus”), including 400,000+ deaths and millions of refugees, than the United States, — albeit through Saudi Arabia, Israel and Turkey.

“Corruptio optima pessima.”

Russian-BorisKustodiyev1918One-hundred years after a Marx inspired revolution replaced the Romanovs with Marx inspired anarchy and tyranny — the rebellion continues, with false notions of freedom and rights ushering in domination, division, and destruction, as seen in the Arab Spring and Black Lives Movement. Thus, to paraphrase George Bernard Shaw: “while throwing off the bonds of convention, and standing free from all allegiance to established religion, law, order, patriotism, and learning, she promptly uses her freedom to put on a heavier set of chains.”

2ntOn this President’s Day, a lobby wall at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, that normally has portraits of the U.S. president, vice president, secretary of state, and ambassador to the United Nations, sits empty.

Hopefully Mr. Trump will keep the U.S. engaged with the world community, not as a dick nation (fomenter of revolutions and arms trafficker) but rather as a force for solidarity and peace.

worldorderIn 1917, Woodrow Wilson supported the Russian Revolution and brought the U.S. into the Great War (WWI), in support of a ‘new world order.’ Today, Obama officials are accusing Russian president Putin of being a threat to the new world order. In his final press conference President Obama said the sanctions on Russia were due to Russia violating Ukraine’s sovereignty by annexing Crimea.

Actually it was the U.S. that violated Ukraine’s sovereignty by sponsoring the February 2014 coup that removed the democratically elected Victor Yanukovych from office. When the US-backed replacement government took over they said they would not be paying Russia the billions of dollars that Ukraine owed Russia — moving Russia to then take Crimea as collateral.

It was the U.S. that violated Syria’s sovereignty by calling for a “regime change” and supporting the rebels, seeking to remove the legitimate Assad government. In Ukraine and Syria the U.S. has acted in a murderous way while Russia has sought to preserve/protect order and society.

jerusalem“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou who killest the prophets, and stonest those who are sent to thee! How often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen gathers her young under her wings, but though wouldst not!” Luke 13:34

Claims by the modern state of Israel (a human construct) to merit sole possession of Jerusalem are both misguided and unfounded (in the bible). Jerusalem should be an international city shared by all peoples (of God). One could even say that the term “Israel” is unmerited by those who, seeking to be their own savior, fail to join the New Covenant (People of God), the true Israel.

RonLauder.JPGAt a forum, on Monday, addressing the ongoing genocide of Christians in the Middle East and Northern Africa, Ronald Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress, spoke on the matter — describing it as one of the great crisis of our time, and the fact that no one knows about it, saying the “silence was deafening.”

He compared the “indifference” among world leaders today with that of leaders following Kristallnacht, 75 years ago in Germany, adding that “never again are meaningless words” given the catastrophe that has befallen Christian communities that go back two millennia. Mr. Lauder noted the irony that “it’s taken someone Jewish to speak up for the Christians.”

The conference included Ret. General Raymond Odierno, former U.S. Army Chief-of-Staff, Judith Miller and Cardinal Timothy Dolan, among others.
