‘Nu Couche’

Christies-ModiglianiAmedeo Modigliani’s Nu Couche (1917-18) garnered $170.4 million at Christie’s Artist’s Muse Sale — the second highest amount ever paid for artwork at auction.

The unchained imperial spirit that produced Nu Couche in Paris also produced the poppies in Flanders Fields, Ypres, Belgium (WWI), during the same period.
