The Naked And The Dead

Sitting across from the United Nations, is a naked man (sculpture) alone on a bench — perhaps a reminder of the vulnerable and weak of the world, or even a reminder that the emperor is without clothes.

Once the champions of human dignity and rights, the U.S. and U.N. are now undermining civil society and human rights, in ways unimaginable before.

U.S. policy makers are pushing a “responsibility to protect” doctrine to justify their intervention in Libya. And yet just a casual look at immigrant detention centers around the U.S., youth detention facilities, and foster care programs (to name just a few), shows the United States is in no position to claim that it is “responsible” or a “protector” of anything, except moneyed interests.
