Sitting across from the United Nations, is a naked man (sculpture) alone on a bench — perhaps a reminder of the vulnerable and weak of the world, or even a reminder that the emperor is without clothes.
U.S. policy makers are pushing a “responsibility to protect” doctrine to justify their intervention in Libya. And yet just a casual look at immigrant detention centers around the U.S., youth detention facilities, and foster care programs (to name just a few), shows the United States is in no position to claim that it is “responsible” or a “protector” of anything, except moneyed interests.
